Album cover design, digital illustration/collage

I was hired by Puerto Rican Jazz guitarist and composer, Rafael Rosa to design his sophomore album cover. He had a screenshot of a piece of art he liked and asked me to use it as inspiration (I’ve tried to find the artist’s name plenty of times with no luck). At first, I explored a more illustrative style but then shifted into more of a collage-driven direction. Colorizing and warping the imagery into a concentric cluster of juxtaposed objects.

The image below is what the client found online and sent me as the main inspiration. I’ve tried reverse-imaging the source to credit the artist but no luck.

Below is my preliminary sketch based on the image above and my conversation with client.
